Textiles, cotton fibre export decline, trade deficit at $65.7bln in Feb

US Census Bureau released total February exports $113.0 billion and imports of $178.7 billion, a trade deficit of $65.7 billion.

In February 2006, exports increased in leather & fur and raw cotton categories to $4 million and $64 million, respectively compared to January 2006.

While exports in finished textile, man made cloth, cotton fibre, textile sewing machine and household textile decreased to $19 million, $12 million, $6 million, $5 million and $26 million, respectively for the period in consideration.

Imports in Feb 2006 went up in case of wool and gems diamonds categories to $20 million and $94 million respectively compared to January 2006.

However, imports declined in categories like cotton cloth (by -$8 million), natural fibre (by -$3 million), leather & fur (by -$2 million), textile sewing machine (by -$11 million), household cotton (by -$61 million), Gems stone (by -$56 million), household wool(by -$53 million), footwear (by -$26 million), jewelry (by -$24 million) and apparel (by -$13 million) for the period in consideration.
