John Zikhali, the President of the South African Clothing and Textile Workers Union (SACTWU), died in a car accident on the N3 near Pietermaritzburg.
Zikhali was a former chairperson of Congress of South African Trade Unions (Cosatu) in KwaZulu-Natal and served in the provincial executive committee of the South African Communist Party (SACP).
The countrymen are shocked hearing Zikhali's death, as he was one of the leading fighters for the rights of workers and he had served in diverse capacities.
Funeral arrangements are yet to be finalized for a dignified and revolutionary send off for the fallen hero.
Mtholephi Mthimkhulu, an ANC spokesperson in KwaZulu-Natal, on behalf of his countrymen conveyed heartfelt condolences to the Zikhali family and on behalf of all members of SACTWU.
