David Collin, the Canadian High Commissioner in Pakistan, said FTA and PTA negotiations between the two countries are in an advance stage of scheduling.
The two countries will sign the deal and mutual trade will see further boost.
Canadian high commissioner called on Abdul Rauf, President of the Islamabad Chamber Commerce and Industry (ICCI), and met traders and industrialists.
Canadian Commercial Attachee was also present. Collin said that Pakistan and Canada are allies in the war aligned with terrorism.
Also there is straight connection involving the economies of the two countries.
He said that Pakistan has achieved good GDP growth rate and investment opportunities also exist among improved investment pleasant conditions.
He informed that Free Trade Agreement (FTA) and Preferential Trade Agreement (PTA) are in the last stage of planning.
He said that there should be no trouble for traders to get Canadian business visa and connected complaints should be brought to his notice.
Abdul Rauf said that international trade pattern has shifted and the trade obstacles have shrunk due to WTO execution.
He said Canada is a partner of Pakistan and showed immense interest after the 28th October earthquake calamity in Pakistan.
He further said that Pak-Canada trade equilibrium is in favour of Pakistan as it exports textile, bed linen, yarn, garments and towels to Canada which is 75 percent of the total export.
But there is necessity to improve the bilateral trade in other segments too, he added.
He also pointed out low investment activities of Canada in Pakistan and anticipated the barter of trade delegations and business to fortify the trade dealings.
He stressed the need to lighten the visa procedure for Pakistani traders.
