SACTWU settles carpet textiles sector wage negotiations

The COSATU-affiliated Southern African Clothing and Textile Workers’ Union (SACTWU) has settled its 2014 wage negotiations for the Carpets sector. A dispute was declared after the 3rd round and settlement was reached during conciliation which took place on 25th June 2014.
 
The settlement package is 7.75%  covering a wage increase and an improved service allowance. The Union’s settlement demand was 8%. Approximately 1000 workers from 4 factories, nationally, will benefit from this increase.
 
The settlement was reached under the auspices of the National Textile Bargaining Council. Increase is effective from 1st July 2014.
