Competition Managing Department, under Ministry of Trade, held a meeting with footwear enterprises on May 27, to collect information and prepare grounds for a successful negotiation with the European Commission (EC), scheduled for June 2.
EC's lawsuit has been the cause of major setbacks for Vietnam's footwear, especially enterprises which produce goods entirely for its foreign partners.
Many enterprises have been forced to cut their May footwear output this year to 30 percent, leading to cut in employment opportunities and rising unemployment.
