Vinatex plans big on textiles front

Vietnam National Textile (Vinatex) Group expects to draw up its master plan to develop textile and garment industry during the period 2006–2010, industry sources reported.

This master plan was approved by the government early this year, including 24 major projects capitalized with VND16,000 billion, or over US $1 billion.

Among six key sectors of the project, textile will be considered a special priority, and many projects that focus this industry will be carried out.

According to the plan, Vinatex targets to produce 302 million square metres shuttled fabric, 190 million square metres for exports, and 106 million square metres knitted fabric of which 81 million square metres will be exported.
