U.S. Chamber Hosts Briefing on U.S.-Vietnam WTO Prospects:
Thursday, June 15
10:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.
U.S. Chamber of Commerce
1615 H St. N.W.
Washington, D.C.
The U.S. Chamber of Commerce will host a briefing by a group of visiting American business representatives from Vietnam who are in Washington urging Congress to pass Permanent Normal Trade Relations (PNTR) for Vietnam as the next step in liberalizing trade between the two countries.
The Chamber is organizing meetings on Capitol Hill this week as part of a campaign to urge Congress to pass PNTR for Vietnam before the August recess.
The U.S. and Vietnam on May 31 signed a bilateral market access agreement, putting Vietnam one step closer to accession into the World Trade Organization. In order for the U.S. to gain full access to Vietnam's markets after the country joins the WTO, Congress must grant Vietnam PNTR.
There is a limited amount of reserved seating for credentialed journalists.
Featured Speakers Include:
Myron Brilliant, Vice President East Asia, U.S. Chamber of Commerce Walter Blocker, managing director of GANNON Vietnam Jocelyn Tran, managing director of MAST Industries Landis Hicks, chief representative in Vietnam, Pacific Architects and Engineers.
