US against import of Polyester Staple Fiber from Mainland

The US International Trade Commission (ITC) announced in the Federal Register (FR) notice of 29 June 2006 the institution of investigation and commencement of preliminary phase investigation to determine whether there was reasonable indication that an industry in the US was materially injured or threatened with material injury, or the establishment of an industry in the US was materially retarded, by reason of imports of certain polyester staple fiber from the Mainland of China that were alleged to be sold in the US at less than fair value.

Interested parties wishing to participate in the investigation should file an entry of appearance with ITC not later than seven days after publication of the FR notice. Written submissions should reach ITC on or before 19 July 2006.

Besides, ITC has scheduled a conference in connection with the investigation on 14 July 2006 in which parties wishing to participate should contact ITC not later than 7 July 2006 to arrange for their appearance.

The Bureau is responsible for, among others, conducting anti-dumping investigations, and guiding and coordinating enterprises in the Guangdong province in responding to anti-dumping investigations against products from the Guangdong Province.
