Textile producers in Arilje have formed an association to face the competition posed by Chinese producers. The aim of this association is to save the domestic producers as one third of Arilje's population depends on textile industry.
Purpose of gaining access to European Union market will also be served by this, informed Miloš Stefanovic, President of Arilje Textile Association.
Stefanovic also added that Chinese textile producers intend to capture 70 percent of the European market in the coming two years.
He said that his association was looking to occupy the remaining market share and they were better placed being closer to the markets.
One of the originators of association, Milan Radovanovic pointed out that the local textile producers were facing the problems of customs regulations and public procurement.
More than hundred stores and companies are involved in textile production.
