As of July 2006, students in developing nations may join the American Association of Textile Chemists and Colorists (AATCC) at a discounted rate of US$10 per year. Developing nations are defined by the World Bank Organization, and a list of developing nations is available on the AATCC website, www.aatcc.org. Other students may join AATCC for U.S.$25 per year.
AATCC has reduced the student membership dues for developing nations in response to requests from section leaders in India. The reduced fees are expected to bring in additional student members from countries like India, where the local section is in advanced talks with various textile schools regarding the formation of new student chapters.
