Egyptian cotton supply report 2006

Cotton Planted area for season 2005/2006 have reached about 650,000 feed. Compared to 715 000 feed. In the season before 2004/2005 with a decrease of about 65,000 feed.

Giza 86 was the predominant cultivated variety during the season 2005/2006 as it reached about 302,000 feed.

(46 percent) of total cotton planted area, which exceeds the planted area of previous season with about 73,000 feed.

(32 percent) this is due to its high quality, productivity and its high ginning outturn.

Giza 88 takes the second rank as the planted area reached 75 000 feed. (12 percent) of total planted area, this variety recorded an increase of about 20 000 feed.

(36 percent) Compared to that of previous season due to increase of international demand on that variety because of its high spinning utility , its high productivity and ginning outtern .

Giza 70 comes in the third rank its planted area this season reached 74,000 feed.(11percent)of total planted area , with a decrease of 63,000 feed compared to previuos season due to its low productivity compared to other varieties.
