The Thai Textile Society is planning a trip to the southeastern Attapeu Province of Laos to visit weaving villages of the Taliang and Sou minorities, visit early morning market to see the various local minorities, and enjoy the unspoilt scenery of the region.
We'll be guests of the Lao Women's Union, a group that keeps the art weaving alive. Interested trip participants may try their hand in weaving.
Attapeu is best known for the Bolaven Plateau, sharing borders with Sekong in the north, Champassack in the west, Vietnam in the East and Cambodia in the South.
The capital town Samakhi Xai is built in a loop in the river, opposite the confluence of the Sekong and Sekhamane Rivers, surrounded by large mountains and picturesque valley.
