USDA has predicted production of US cotton crop to reach 21.3 million bales, which is three percent higher than this October but 11 percent lower than the record high produce in 2005. Anticipated average yield of cotton has been increased to 798 pounds per acre by USDA, which is 24 pounds more than last month but 33 pounds less than 2005.

Cotton production has upturned from last month in Alabama, California, Florida, Georgia, Kansas, Mississippi, South Carolina, Tennessee and Texas as per the association's production report dated November 9, 2006.

Total land area harvested is expected to be 12.8 million acres, which is 7 percent lower than last year. On account of favourable climate in this growing season, farmers of Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi and Texas are waiting for higher yields. Maximum production is expected in Arkansas.
