The United States-China Economic and Security Review Commission (USCC) issued its 2006 annual report this morning.
“The China Commission's report is very important. The Commission is the one body conducting the most vigorous bipartisan oversight of the Bush Administration's policy toward China."
"The new incoming Congress seriously should consider the recommendations made in this report and act appropriately,” said American Manufacturing Trade Action Coalition (AMTAC) Executive Director Auggie Tantillo.
“Congress must hold Bush Administration accountable for its failures in its China policy. The new Congress must act fast and engage in aggressive oversight of why U.S. domestic manufacturers are losing so much market share to China and of what can be done to reverse the trend,” Tantillo continued.
“More pressure from Congress can only help the Bush Administration produce a trade policy more beneficial to U.S. domestic manufacturing."
"A good start would be to pass the anti-currency manipulation legislation proposed by Senator Jim Bunning of Kentucky and Congressmen Tim Ryan of Ohio and Duncan Hunter of California,” Tantillo concluded.
