Vietnam can export goods to the US more freely as quotas will be removed from January 1, 2007, after the former country became WTO member, US Association of Importers of Textile and Apparel (USAITA) said.
As per an agreement signed by Vietnam on textile and apparel quotas in 2003, only on the Congress' approval of Permanent Normal Trade Relations can ensure expiry of US quotas.
In May 2006, however, a new agreement was signed that provided for export quota removal once Vietnam becomes member of WTO.
