Nonwoven textiles find applications such as absorbent hygiene products which include baby diapers, feminine health care products, surgical gowns, face masks, geotextiles, air filters, chemical and biological warfare protective suit liners, automotive textiles such as acoustic insulation pads, trunk and headliners, etc.
North America and Europe are leaders in nonwoven textiles. Several Fortune 500 companies such as Procter and Gamble, Dupont and 3M to name a few are players in the field and belong to an international trade association known as the Association of the Nonwoven Fabrics Industry, INDA, USA.
In Asia Pacific, China is the leader with India trailing far behind. According to the estimates from INDA/EDANA, in 2009, the global nonwoven industry will be worth slightly over 22 billion US dollars.
