US Congress decision to extend the Third Country Provision Act has been applauded by the African countries.
Experts say that this will enable enough time for smaller countries to obtain materials locally.
According to African Growth Opportunity Act (AGOA) laws countries need to produce export products from domestic raw materials.
However, relaxation of this law would help boost export revenue of the country, which will in turn improve sourcing of locally produced raw materials.
Muzikayise Dube, Economists Association of Swaziland (ECAS), says “It's more like we have been given ample time to ensure that when the extension period expires, we are able to source our raw material locally in the form of cotton and refineries.”
