Lesotho's textile unions appealed their workers to accept a wage deal as the industry is on a verge of end due to cutthroat competition with the Asian countries, which has already resulted 10,000 jobs-losses.
Unions had warned that the poor economy of the country has faced worst consequences of violent industrial action two years back, which left two workers dead and put the industry in danger.
Unions agreed to accept less than the nine percent pay increment they had been demanding in order to prevent another strike.
Factory Workers Union General Secretary, Daniel Maraisane informed that increment are not amicable as far as living wages are concerned. However, the union assured workers that it won't take stand against the results, whether if they accept it or not.
The Factory Workers Union (FAWU), Lesotho Clothing and Allied Workers Union (LECAWU) and the National Union of Textile Workers (NUTEX) agreed on an increment of 3.5 percent for general workers and 5.5 percent for trained workers.
