AATCC representatives visit Hohenstein Institutes & Oeko-Tex

This March, AATCC Review Features Editor Maria Thiry, and AATCC Review advertising representative Chris Shaw visited representatives of Oeko-Tex at the Hohenstein Institutes.

The tour of the Institutes, one of Europe's premier facilities for quality testing and textile research, was fascinating. Much of Oeko-Tex testing for harmful substances is done at the Institutes.

The Oeko-Tex Standard 100 enables the testing of textiles and clothing for their human ecology properties.

This standard contains analytical tests for specified harmful substances and gives limiting values based on scientific considerations.

A manufacturer whose product meets the requirements set by the standard is licensed to label the product as "Tested for Harmful Substances according to Oeko-Tex Standard 100."
