Los Angeles Counterfeiting and Piracy Awareness Week on Monday, August 20 – Thursday, August 23. The week will feature educational and media events throughout the Los Angeles area focusing on the costs and health and safety threats of counterfeiting and piracy.
Each day's events will address a specific topic including the impact of this growing problem on California's small and medium sized businesses and its impact on local industries.
Our goal is to make Los Angeles a model city on the protection of intellectual property rights that can be emulated by other major cities around the country and the world.
Monday, August 20: Fighting the Fakes: Los Angeles Model City Launch High-level state and local government officials will highlight the issues that will be discussed in the week ahead. Speakers will address the impact of counterfeiting and piracy on the Los Angeles region, city, state, and federal enforcement efforts, and the threat to consumer health and safety.
Tuesday, August 21: The Cost of Counterfeiting and Piracy Learn what government resources are available to protect your brand, how you can work with law enforcement to safeguard your intellectual property, how to protect your supply chain, and what the U.S. Chamber is doing to defend American business.
Wednesday, August 22: Counterfeiting: The Unglamorous Side of Fashion Learn about the impact of counterfeiting and piracy on the Los Angeles fashion industry and best practices for fighting back against counterfeiters and pirates.
Thursday, August 23: Counterfeiting and Piracy Town Hall Join Congressman Howard Berman and Congresswoman Diane Watson for a town hall discussion about the impact of counterfeiting and piracy to the content community.
