The New York Board of Trade (NYBOT) closed the electronic market for its Cotton No. 2 futures contract as a result of the cotton market trading "limit down".

The open-outcry market for Cotton remained open for trades above the three-cent limit through the close of trading at 2:15 p.m. ET today.

On Friday, August 17, the Cotton markets will be available for pre-open at 10 a.m. ET, and both floor and screen trading will open for trading at 10:30 a.m. ET.
