CII Business delegation to Bogota

The President expressed his happiness to know about TCS`s strong presence in Bogota and its long term plans for expansion in Colombia. This was expressed by him while talking to TCS officials present at the meeting.

Presiden Uribe told Mr Kirloskar that huge opportunity exists between India and Colombia in the water management systems and invited Kirloskars to the Colombian market.

Talking to the represenatives of Pharma sector in India, President Uribe hoped that IPCA laboratories would be able to supply Colombia with its world class medicines and help reduce the price inflation affecting the Pharma industry by reducing the cost of medicines in Colomia.

It was generally felt that Indian business with Latin America seemed difficult as because of the geographical distance. International Clearing and Shiping Agency, from the shipping industry, informed President Uribe that more and more ships were now taking the Pacific Ocean route for shipment. this reduses delivery time by half.

ONGC Videsh Limited informed the President of Colombia that ONGC had invested over 400 Million USD in oil exploration, in a joint investment with an Chinese company. 20000 Barrels of oil perday was being produced by ONGC in Colombia.

President Uribe informed the CII members that apart from oil and gas, investent is also needed in the field of bio fuels. India produces 200,000 of ethanol per day from sugar cane.

Another great opportunity for Indain businessmen, said President Uribe, was in the field of wood and rubber plantation. President assured all possible halp to Indian businessmen wanting to do business with Colombia.

The delegation was introduced by the Indian Ambasador to Colombia, Mr Deepak Bhojwani. The CII delegation was on its last leg of business vists to the countries of Peru, Ecuador and Colombia.

Earlier in the week, the delegation had met with Busiens leadres and had one to one buyer seller meetings with counterparts, in meetings organised by the National Confederation of Industry, Peru and the Peru Indian Chambers of Commerce, Lima; CORPEI and the Minstry of Foreign Trade in Quito and Guayaquil in Ecuador and Bogota Chambers of Commerce and ANDI in Colombia.

The delegation met with hundereds of interested business counterparts in Peru, Ecuador and Colombia and started business dialogue with each other.
