This follows a similar model used by the Ministry of Urban Development, which had shortlisted consultants who could prepare City Development Plans for the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission.
CII's National Council on Infrastructure has consistently been a supporter of PPP as it believes that this combines the best features of private enterprise with the social responsibilities of the state. Therefore, this decision by the Finance Ministry is an important step forward in the PPP movement in India.
