• ARTA is officially a 501(c)(6), tax-exempt, noncharitable association.
• 2007 budget, zero-based, set at $20,000.
• Eighty percent of all funds are used for membership benefit. Director Howard Zins offered a brief update on legislative activities, including ARTA's recent “March on Washington.”
He noted that the primary points delivered to legislators were:
• The cost savings of reusables versus disposables.
• The environmental advantages of reusables, which are especially relevant as the AHA/ EPAagreement is considered. The agreement calls for a reduction in medical waste of 33% within the next year and of 50% by 2010.
