Transportation equipment, up two consecutive months, had the largest increase, $7.4 billion or 11.0 percent to $75.4 billion. New orders for manufactured nondurable goods increased $2.6 billion or 1.3 percent to $206.0 billion.
Shipments: Shipments of manufactured durable goods in July, up four of the last five months, increased $8.3 billion or 3.9 percent to $219.9 billion, revised from the previously published 3.8 percent increase. This was also at the highest level since the series was first stated on a NAICS basis in 1992 and followed a 1.1 percent June decrease.
Transportation equipment, up two of the last three months, had the largest increase, $5.4 billion or 9.4 percent to $62.6 billion.
Shipments of manufactured nondurable goods, up five of the last six months, increased $2.6 billion or 1.3 percent to $206.0 billion. This was also at the highest level since the series was first stated on a NAICS basis in 1992 and followed a 0.2 percent June increase. Food products led the increase, up $0.8 billion or 1.6 percent to $48.0 billion.
Unfilled Orders: Unfilled orders for manufactured durable goods in July, up twenty-six of the last twenty-seven months, increased $17.4 billion or 2.4 percent to $754.5 billion, unchanged from the previously published increase. This was also at the highest level since the series was first stated on a NAICS basis in 1992 and followed a 1.6 percent June increase.
Transportation equipment, up eighteen consecutive months, had the largest increase, $12.8 billion or 3.0 percent to $433.9 billion.
Inventories: Inventories of manufactured durable goods in July, up sixteen of the last seventeen months, increased $0.2 billion or 0.1 percent to $312.9 billion, unchanged from the previously published increase. This was also at the highest level since the series was first stated on a NAICS basis in 1992 and followed a slight June decrease.
Transportation equipment, up six of the last seven months, had the largest increase, $0.4 billion or 0.5 percent to $77.7 billion.
Inventories of manufactured nondurable goods, up five consecutive months, increased $0.6 billion or 0.3 percent to $204.5 billion. This was led by food products, which increased $0.5 billion or 1.3 percent to $37.2 billion. By stage of fabrication, July materials and supplies decreased 0.1 percent in durable goods and increased 0.1 percent in nondurable goods.
Work in process increased 0.4 percent in durable goods and decreased 0.4 percent in nondurable goods. Finished goods decreased 0.1 percent in durable goods and increased 0.7 percent in nondurable goods.
