We therefore appeal to all manufacturers and exporters to participate in this fair in a big way to get the maximum advantage of transacting business in the show.
The Council has so far received positive response from 90 buyers to visit the show and expecting visit of over 250 buyers from all over the world as against 161 who visited in 2006 in the previous show.
The Council is also publicizing the show by release of advertisements in various trade magazines, sending mailers promoting the show.
Since the Indian Handmade Carpet Industry is 100% export oriented and highly labour intensive industry, a special package has been demanded from the Govt by the Council for ensuring growth both in export as well as in generating employment, such as :
• Inclusion of Handmade Carpet Industry in the scheme of Vishesh Krishi Gram Udyog Yojna.
• Subsidy on Export Credit – Due to special requirement of the industry for availing Pre-Shipment and Post-Shipment Export Credit for a longer period of time, subsidy is essential to the carpet manufacturers and exporters to remain cost competitive in the international market.
• Due to weakening of dollar industry has suffered a lot as such there is a need for special package for the industry to compensate the losses due to currency fluctuation.
• Promotion of Fairs - Allocation of special funds for promoting India Carpet Expo organized twice in a year by CEPC for inviting buyers and providing subsidy on traveling and hotel as well as for subsidizing participation charges of small exporters.
• Brand Promotion - Allocation of special funds for brand promotion and publicity.
• Extending 80 HHC benefit for the Indian Handmade Carpet Industry.
• Allocation of funds for infrastructure development in craft pockets.
While the newly elected team of Committee of Administration of CEPC is fully devoted with their heart and soul to make India Carpet Expo as grand success, but we need support from Exporter-Members to participate in large number, Buying Representatives to motivate their principals to visit the show, Media to project the fair and make it popular.
We assure that the fair will be profitable both for the overseas buyers to visit the show in procuring their merchandise from larger options available under one roof as well as business oriented for the exhibitors by visit of large number of genuine importers from different corners of the world.
