CII & Brazilian delegation to discuss biz opportunities

A Day before the official business Summit, on 15th October 2007, The delegation of the Confederation of Indian Industry, led by Mr. A P Mull, Chief Executive Officer, TCE Consulting Engineers Limited, Tata Group, held important meetings through the day.

In the morning, the delegation met with senior business leaders from Brazil, to discuss business opportunities. Mr. Rodrigo Loures, Leader of the Brazilian delegation to IBSA and the Vice President of the Confederation of National Industries of Brazil, echoed Mr. Mull's sentiments when he said that India and Brazil have much in common and much to gain from each other in business cooperation.

Agriculture, said Mr. Loures, is one of the most important sectors in Brazil with the country having 20% of the fresh water supply and 20% of the land area of the world.

Mr. Loures then presented to the CII members, the opportunities available in the State of Parana, a state that produces 25% of the cereals production of Brazil and is high on technology and innovation.

Mr. Loures said that one major area of cooperation between India and Brazil can be Innovation and technology where Brazil can bring in the Brazilian strategy for industrial development and develop strong partnerships between the two countries.

Brazil, he said, can help in setting up technological centres in India. Mr. Loures is also the President of the Industrial Policy Committee of the Confederation of National Industries of Brazil.
