He said though India is Finland's 5th largest trading partner, it contributed to only 1% of Finland's foreign trade. He said commerce is a two-way street and an increase in trade relationship between the two countries would prove to be a win-win situation for all the players.
In his remarks, Mr Yrjo-Pekka Rautalahti, Director, Strategic Development, UPM-Kymmene Corporation, said India's closer ties with the EU offered a wider platform to promote Finland-India business ties. He also thanked CII for providing a platform for Finnish and Indian businessmen to interact.
In his welcome address, Dr Sudhir Kapur, Chairman, Technical Education & Training, NR, CII & Managing Director & CEO, Countrystrategy Business Consultants Pvt Ltd, said India is now becoming the R&D hub, besides leading in IT, ITES and the KPO sector. From being known as an investment destination, India is increasingly been seen as an investor and there is great scope in promoting India-Finland trade ties.
