TEA President appeals support from banks

Tirupur Exporters' Association organised the Bankers' meet on Friday, the 26th October 2007 at TEA Conference Hall. 80 exporters and 77 bank officials from 40 banks including their branches were participated in the meeting.

Shri. A. Sakthivel, President, TEA delivered a presidential address and requested the banks to consider the following points and also take up the matter with their Head Office.

1. Subvention of 2% interest to be released all exporters immediately.
2. Packing Credit in PCFC is to be made available in all currencies to all exporters.
3. Packing Credit Interest Rates to be reduced to 6%
4. Delay in TUF interest reimbursement should be avoided.
5. All eligible machinery should be considered for giving loan under TUF Scheme.
6. Double premium to be avoided for ECGC certificate.
7. The term loan has to be rescheduled for remittance from six to nine months without affecting the credibility of customers.

Further, Shri. A. Sakthivel also appealed the banks to support the exporters at this crucial moment and he was confident that Tirupur Exporters would come out of this crisis as like in the past. During the meet, Shri. A. Sakthivel inaugurated the “Bankers Club”.

Shri. N. Chandran, Vice President, TEA and Shri. Raja M. Shanmugam, Chairman, Banking Sub Committee, TEA also highlighted the current scenario of the industry and requested support from the banks.

From the Steering Committee of Bankers' Club, Shri. H. Subramaniam, AGM, SBI Overseas Branch Shri. S. Balachander, AGM, Indian Overseas Bank, Shri. G.K. Warriar from Dhanalakshmi Bank had also delivered their speeches from the bankers' perspective of the issues.
