The American Manufacturing Trade Action Coalition (AMTAC) is scheduled to testify at a hearing held by the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC).

The ITC hearing is being conducted to provide an in-depth assessment of the U.S.-China trade and investment relationship and the U.S.-Asia-Pacific trade and investment relationship. At the hearing, China: Government Policies Affecting U.S. Trade in Selected Sectors, the ITC will hear testimony about the causes of the U.S.-China trade imbalance and to what extent the People's Republic of China uses various forms of government intervention to promote investment, employment, and exports illegally.

“We are pleased the ITC is holding this hearing. It is important to understand the trade policy obstacles faced by U.S. industry in competing with China,” said AMTAC Executive Director Auggie Tantillo.

“It is clear that the People's Republic of China represents the single greatest trade problem confronting the Unites States, and the U.S. manufacturing base in particular,” Tantillo continued.

“The single greatest driving factor behind this problem is China's flagrant and continual willingness to subsidize their manufacturing base,” Tantillo added.
