Minister MSME leads MSME Ministerial cum Industry mission to China

On 1st November, 2007 during a first ever high power Minister led delegation from the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) accompanied by six SME members from Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) visited the Suzhou Industrial Park near Shanghai.

The SME mission is visiting Beijing, Quingdao and Shanghai in China during the week of 29th October to 2nd November.

The objective of the Mission in visiting the Suzhou Industrial Park was to study the eco-system and evaluate potential partnerships for increasing access to Technology for Indian MSMEs and creating a similar SEZ for MSMEs in India.

Speaking on the occasion, Shri. Mahavir Prasad, Minister, MSME said that we would like to learn from the Suzhou Industrial Park about the promotion, facilitation and processes used for attracting investments. He thanked and invited the Suzhou Investment Authorities to also visit and invest in India.

Ms. Sun Yanyan, Vice Chairman of the SIP Park shared the Policies and practices at the SIP that has helped them become the no. 1 investment Zone in China since 2003.

Laid out on a 288 sq. Km. area of land just outside Shanghai, this has already attracted 74 out of 500 Fortune companies.

Mr. Vishnu Prakash, Consulate General of India, spoke referring to the five Indian companies in the park, that more would be targeted.

Mr. Jawhar Sircar, Addl. Secretary, MSME shared the statistics on Indian MSMEs and congratulated the SIP authorities for having developed a world-class zone in China and been successful in attracting investments.
