Tirupur Municipality has been upgraded in to Corporation by a Special Act passed by Tamilnadu Government.
In a press statement issued Shri.A.Sakthivel, President, TEA said that he has sent thanks letters to Hon'ble Chief Minister of Tamilnadu Kalaignar Dr. M. Karunanidhi, Hon'ble Minister for Local administration Shri. M.K. Stalin and Shri. Pongalur N. Palanisamy, Hon'ble Minister for Rural Industries and informed that the Tamilnadu Government has fulfilled the long felt need of Tirupur people and hoped that the Upgradation would help Tirupur – knitwear city to get a fresh momentum in all-round progress.
He also added that the Association requisition for formation of a new district with Tirupur as Headquarters may be considered by the Tamilnadu Government soon.
