Esther Dyson to address at Shop.org's Annual Summit

Association for online retailers Shop.org announces that Esther Dyson, a renowned technologist and visionary, is the most recent addition to the list of industry experts speaking at Shop.org's 2005 Annual Summit, September 12-15, at The Venetian Hotel in Las Vegas. During her keynote presentation on Tuesday, September 13, Dyson will address Summit attendees on the implications of technology trends for online retailers.
Esther Dyson serves as editor-at-large at CNET Networks, where she is in charge for its monthly newsletter, Release 1.0, and its PC Forum annual conference. She covers leading industry topics such as social software and social networks, registries of people and things (including customer lists, RFID databases, product catalogues and the domain name system), the rise of blogs and other new media, online reputation systems, and the use of consumer Internet services such as Yahoo!, eBay and Google by small businesses.
In addition, Dyson is an active player in discussions and policy-making concerning the Internet and society. She was founding Chairman of ICANN, the international organization responsible for setting Domain Name System policy. A variety of government officials worldwide turn to her for advice on Internet policy issues. In addition, she sits on the board of WPP Group and is an investor in a variety of IT-oriented startups around the world.
