Merino fleece wool suffered badly during the week, with falls of 13¢ to 30¢ in the individual Micron Indicators, before a small rebound generally in the order of 1 to 3¢ yesterday. Skirtings were reported as down by 10 to 15¢ on Wednesday in the North, down by 10 to 20 cents in the West and unchanged in the South. They remained firm in the North and West yesterday, but eased in a larger offering in the South. Crossbreds followed the general trends, although the 25 to 28 micron wools picked up 5¢ in the South yesterday. Oddments had a mixed week finishing the week as unchanged or slightly cheaper.

Although quieter on Wednesday buyers for China were the main buyers during the week.

Sales are to be held in Sydney, Melbourne and Fremantle next week, with 57,432 bales rostered for sale.

The National Wool Production Forecasting Committee met yesterday and will release their latest estimate for 2004/05 and forecast for 2005/06 this afternoon. The current figures for 2004/05 and 2005/06 are 475 mkg and 470 mkg, respectively.
