Approximately 37.7 percent of US textile and apparel manufacturing jobs (395,300) have been lost since 2001. 651,900 US textile and apparel manufacturing jobs still remain.

The American Manufacturing Trade Action Coalition's (AMTAC) mission is to preserve and create American manufacturing jobs through the establishment of trade policy and other measures necessary for the U.S. manufacturing sector to stabilize and grow. Employment in the US manufacturing sector provides millions of American jobs, enables a diverse workforce and sustains communities and families in both urban and rural America.

National Textile Association is the trade organization for the US textile fabric weaving and knitting, dyeing, printing and finishing industries.

UNITE (formerly the Union of Needletrades, Industrial and Textile Employees) and HERE (Hotel Employees and Restaurant Employees International Union) merged on July 8, 2004 forming UNITE HERE. The union represents more than 450,000 active members and more than 400,000 retirees throughout North America.
