Cotton Incorporated and the New York Board of Trade (NYBOT) have teamed up to host three days of free cotton options seminars from October 20-22, aimed at helping representatives from the cotton mill community increase their understanding of options on cotton futures.
The seminars, entitled “Hedging with Options,” will be taught by leading options experts Judith Ganes Chase of J. Ganes Consulting, LLC, and Eric R. Matsen from Matsen Enterprises, LLC, and will address such issues as why options on cotton futures are critical to one's business, what options can do for you and how, and actionable hedging strategies based on various price scenarios and market outlook.
The seminars will be held at the Exchange headquarters at One North End Avenue in Lower Manhattan on the following days:
Thursday, October 20, from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm: seminar will be a review of basic futures and options terms and concepts. There will be a cocktail reception following the event.
Friday, October 21, from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm: Intermediate Options Hedging for Cotton Mills (Session I) will be held from 8:30 am to 12:00 noon, with a break from 12:00 pm to 1:30 pm for lunch (to be provided). The second session will be from 1:30 to 4:30 pm, with dinner to follow (to be announced).

“Our goal is to educate as many potential market users as possible, which is why NYBOT holds numerous educational seminars for all of our core products throughout the year and for all levels of expertise,” said Joe O'Neill, Senior Vice President at NYBOT. “This is the perfect opportunity for anyone from the mill sector interested in trading cotton options to come learn more about managing price risk, so I encourage all parties to take advantage of these free seminars.”
