Vietnam Textile and Apparel Association (VITAS) has signed an agreement with Texas Cotton Association and the Cotton Council International of the US.

Under the terms of the agreement, the two US bodies will help and provide technical assistance, apart from giving training to personnel from the Vietnamese textile and garment industry. They will also co-support trade promotion activities mutually beneficial to both the countries.

Shipments from the US account for nearly 30 percent of all Vietnam's cotton imports. Apart from that, Vietnam ranks among the top five exporting countries to the US and exports are expected to touch US $5.4 billion in 2008.
