Inflation Index of textiles sector remains constant

he W.P.I. Index based rate of inflation for the week ending 01.11.2008 has been provisionally estimated at 8.98% as against the previous week's level of 10.72%.
The textiles group has an overall weight of 9.8% in the WPI Index and hence it is an important group in measuring inflation.
The index for 'Textiles' group remains constant at 139.7 (Provisional) against the index of the previous week.
The annual inflation in respect of the textile group of items was 5.75% as compared to 8.98% for all commodities for the week ending 03.11.2008. The weekly inflation of the textile group remains constant for the week ending 03.11.08 as compared to decrease of 1.3 per cent in all commodities (Details Annexed).
