If urgent measures were not taken, the Spanish textile industry is predicted to lose about 115,000 jobs by 2010, Adrià Saws, President of the Counsel Intertextil Spanish, declared yesterday.
He drew the Government's attention to the facts and sought its protection and intervention in the issues facing the textile industry of the country.
Simultaneously, Saws also called upon the Spanish textile industry to reorient in times of competition, particularly from China.
Speaking about the state of textile industry, he said the production dropped 11 percent during the first quarter this year.
The sectoral job losses are attributed to liberal import of textiles from Asian countries.
