Dy CM concerned about silk & woolen industry

Mangat Ram Sharma, the Deputy Chief Minister and chairman of KVIB, held a meeting with the Chairman KVIB Shorthand who was there for the promotion of Silk and woolen items.

The meeting ended with a decision that the state producing silk and woolen Khadi would conduct a joint meeting with Secretary of Textile Industry to ensure fast development of these trades in West Bengal, Karnatka, Jharkahand, Uttranchal, Himachal Pardesh and Jammu and Kashmir.

Following the decision, Khadi Boards of the states would control reeling, weaving and spinning of yarn; moreover, the sericulture departments would do rearing and production of the cocoons and tassar.

A meeting was held between Deputy Chief Minister and Chairman of Central Silk Board. It was decided that next meeting would be called in the third week of November.

The Secretary Textile Industry would also be invited in the meeting for the speedy expansion of silk and woolen production in the states for receiving financial support of Rs 4 to 5 crore from the centre to encourage trainings and to spread publicity of such schemes in the states.

Bee keeping would be declared as a nodal agency for imparting training to the beekeepers and farmers, and they would also be given support under the schemes sponsored by center.
