Synthetic fibers output down in September

Japan's textile production index goes down 3 percent in September at 64.4 index points against 66.6 in August.

Shipment of textiles was lower 4.2 percent at 64.4 index points in September compared to 67.2 in August. There was no reported change in the inventory index which stood at 70.5.

Manmade fibre, spun yarn, woven fabric, dyeing and finish process, clothes and other textiles, all registered negative growth in terms of production, shipment, and inventory indices.

Production figures:

Production of synthetic fiber (filament) reached 40788 tons in September down 3.8 percent compared to 42385 tons in August.

Negative trend continued in synthetic fiber (staple) reaching 47572 tons against 50244 tons in August.

However, in the spun yarn segment, cotton yarn production showed an impressive rise of 24.5 percent at 7734 tons in September, against 6213 tons in the previous month.

Cotton fabrics also went up by 5percent at 33655 tons against August figure of 32,051 tons.
