Cabinet plans to cut VAT on gold

The Delhi Cabinet decided to decrease the Value Added Tax on Gold from one per cent to 0.1 per cent.

The decision to reduce VAT on the yellow metal was taken as bullion trade in the capital was shifting to neighbouring Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and even Gujarat where the tax on gold was much less, Delhi Finance Minister A K Walia told reporters after a Cabinet Meeting.
