Brazilian Textile and Apparel Industry Association (ABIT) reported that in the episodes for December 10 and 12, the TV Globo soap opera, 'Belíssima', will show a sequence of actions emphasizing the piracy issue in the Brazilian fashion industry.
For such, the soap's author, Sílvio de Abreu, created a series of scenes involving the characters Safira (Claudia Raia) and her daughter, Giovana (Paola Oliveira), which walk through an area of street vendors in São Paulo where they choose pieces of lingerie and make-up products. A few scenes later, the two begin to suffer a series of allergic reactions to the “similar” products they are using.
With humor, Silvio de Abreu shows very clearly the risks involved in acquiring pirate products with unknown origin and that leave the consumer without any recourse since there is no way they can demand their rights.
ABIT Director Superintendent, Fernando Pimentel stated that “It is of fundamental importance for the soap opera to explore this issue, which has to do with the needs of the textile industry. I believe that the repercussion will be very relevant in the effort being made to at least reduce the effects of piracy.
ABIT, the representative organization of the Brazilian textile and apparel industry, participates actively in the evolution of the textile sector. A pioneer in the industrialization of Brazil, the textile sector stands out within the domestic economy.
