Jeffrey Silberman joins FIT, Chairperson of Marketing Department

Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) has elected Jeffrey Silberman as Chairperson of Development and Marketing Department.
He was elected by fellow members of the department and has been on the FIT faculty since 1979.
He is a consultant to the International Cotton Advisory Committee (ICAC) Secretariat, and serves as Executive Director to the International Forum for Cotton Promotion (IFCP).
An international textile consultant, Silberman recently designed and implemented textile programs in Armenia and Nepal; linen development programs throughout Russia, and marketing programs in Mongolia and Thailand.
He was also a core member of the team charged with developing and launching the Egyptian Cotton World Wide Promotion program for the Government of Egypt.
Prior to building his consulting firm, Silberman was a director of marketing for Cotton Incorporated.
Before that, he was technical director for United Merchants and Manufacturers Inc
Silberman received a BS degree in Textile Marketing and Design from Philadelphia University.
He won the 'Winrock Award for Service and Dedication Given in Helping to Build a Better World' for his work with Russian flax producers in December 1999.
FIT is a college of art and design, business and technology of the State University of New York (SUNY).
It offers more than 30 programs leading to the AAS, BFA, BS, MA, and MPS degrees.
