ABIT roundsoff 2005 issuing diplomas to Heliópolis Project attendees

Brazilian Textile and Apparel Industry Association announced the end of 2005 activities for ABIT was highlighted by the year's last meeting of the Board of Directors. ABIT president, Josué Gomes da Silva conducted the work, together with the President of the Textile Industry Union of the State of São Paulo, Rafael Cervone Netto.
During the meeting, issues of sector interest were discussed. The occasion also launched a book, “Studies on the Textile and Apparel Industry in the Americas – Market Analyses and Business Opportunities”.
The material is from the Senai-Cetiqt, with the support of ABIT and APEX-Brasil – Export and Investment Promotion Agency. Also at the meeting, the participants received information about the 22nd National Congress for Textile Technicians and the 8th National Fair for the Textile Chain, which will be held July 25-30 at the Pernambuco Convention Center in Olinda. ABIT supports the event together with other entities.
At the end, Josué Gomes da Silva led the ceremony to hand out diplomas to the Heliópolis Project seamstresses, which is part of ABIT's social responsibility nucleus with resources from the federal government's Zero Hunger program.
Besides ABIT, the initiative involves the Union of Nuclei, Associations and Societies for Residents of Heliópolis, one of the largest shantytowns in the city of São Paulo, and the Renovar Institute, which is responsible for the formation and implementation of the Cooperative.
