SEL, Ludhiana-based textile firm, is keen to exchange ideas and know-how with their counterparts in Pakistan as an initiative to cross border trade.

Mr. Neeraj Saluja, managing director of SEL, told fibre2fashion, “A sixteen-member Pakistan delegation, including members of All Pakistan Textiles’ Manufacturers Association (APTMA) had visited India in November-end.”

“The Pakistani team had met us and we exchanged views. We are now planning to send a 4-5 member technical team to Lahore to visit textile manufacturing units and to have insights on their techniques of manufacturing quality yarn,” he informs.

“During one of our earlier visits to Pakistan, we realized that the country produces good quality yarn, but we are not able to achieve that quality despite of having very good cotton available with us” he adds.

He says, “We thought it would be a good idea to send a delegation to exchange ideas and know-how in the field of textiles.”

“The SEL team is likely to go early next year,” he informs.

Talking about expectations from the proposed visit, he says “We feel that the visit of our technical team to Pakistan will be quiet fruitful in terms of understanding techniques of manufacturing quality yarns.”

Mr. Saluja opines, “We are sure that they shall be looking forward to our team’s visit and such initiatives would go a long way in promoting cross border trade.”

Commenting on the trade relation with Pakistan, he informs, “We are already exporting to various customers in Pakistan and shall continue doing so.”

“I foresee a huge potential in this visit to Pakistan manufacturing units,” he says.
