Strabane based textile factory site of Adria Ltd's in Strabane was bought by a Londonderry builder Kevin Crumley. Located at Beechmount Avenue the site was sold based purely on a Sale and Leaseback arrangement.

Sources from Adria say that this was a commercial decision to fund redundancies to the tune of about 250.

The company's premises at Campsie have also been hit by redundancies.

Social Democratic & Labour Party MLA Eugene McMenamin believes that Adria's Strabane workforce will drop down to 150 by March end.

But this decision of the company in no way changes its long-term plans for the factory, said a company spokesman who confirms its Strabane factory site sale.

The sale agreement is a commercial decision and Adria will retain a lease on this site that will be developed soon.
