Md Zakir Hossain, Executive Chairman, Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority (Bepza), announced that the expected investment to develop Adamjee export processing zone (EPZ) rounds upto US $400 million within 18 months.
Government plans to set up around 50 industrial plants here, supported by over 28 foreign and domestic investors who have presented several proposals for their units.
This project is expected to yield over TK5.11 crore a year, generating more than 13730 jobs.
Products worth $750 million will exported from here every year.
Chairman informed that of the 200 plots, 103 plots covering 2000 square metres each, have already been developed and 37 of them had been allotted to four different companies.
British-Virgin Island and Hong Kong-based Kwun Tong Apparels Ltd, and Canada-based Hy-Lan Sweater International Ltd, have invested $38.85 million and $1.28 million, respectively.
Saleha Wear Ltd, a local company, and DNV Clothing Ltd, a joint venture between Bangladesh, India and the UAE, will start production soon, here.
