But it does not stop there. Now, other nations are asserting themselves: most notably India. The Indian leather industry is already one of the largest but now, freed from earlier restrictions, is actively seeking new openings and opportunities. It represents a significant development.
Which is why India is the Focus Country this year at APLF
Material and Fashion Trends Lounges - This year Fair proceeds with an important development over recent years in providing vital information, for exhibitors and buyers alike, on developing trends.
More than ever before the industry seeks to be better informed on what designs, colours and products will dominate in the forthcoming seasons. At APLF they can identify what is "hot" and what is "not".
Comprehensive Event Programme - The list of events linked to the Fair continues to grow. Six major interactive events – three forums, two seminar programmes and one conference – will take place before and during APLF. They cover topics of current interest and concern to all those engaged in the international leather and shoe industry.
Both APLF - MMT and Fashion Access are held in the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. Although both exhibitions are separate and distinct visitors to one will have access to both, although entry to the Top Style Hall is by invitation only.
Prime Source (PS) - In fact visitors will have access as well to the exhibition area of a new event, Prime Source. Prime Source. As APLF Ltd Director, Michael Duck, explained in the press conference marking the opening of APLF 2006, "Prime Source was developed as one way in which exhibitors and buyers to APLF could cross the bridge to the fashion industry."
Mr. Duck added, "For anyone connected with the leather business, in any part of the world, as suppliers or buyers, large or small but who visits only one trade fair a year – that fair should be the Asia Pacific Leather Fair."
