Acordis puts 500 workers in hapless condition

The management of Acordis, a leading acrylic fibre manufacturer has announced that the company is not in position to pay last two weeks salary to its nearly 500 workers.

Leader of the administration team, Neville Khan informed that they have the full co-operation of management and are in the process of having discussions with all stakeholders including customers, suppliers and employees.

He explained that their our primary objective is to prolong existence of the company as a going concern.

Acordis established Grimsby facility in Jan 1998. In 2001, more than 200 workers were laid off when its viscose plant was sold.

The company has a 240 acre plant in Grimsby and offices in Bradford. It is still not clear that how many out of the 475 employees will be affected.

Acordis sells fibers into three major markets - commodity fibres, speciality fibres and carbon fibre precursor.

The future of nearly 500 company workers is in question unless and untill the company announces its future plans.

Acordis is a multinational group of businesses, supplying customers throughout the world with man-made fibres and speciality materials for industrial, textile, medical and hygiene applications.
